Nanaimo, Vancouver Island, Newcastle Marine Park, B.C. 09.13.2013

Two days in Campbell River was plenty to cover all our chores.  The weather has turned into those perfect clear beautiful sunny days, no wind.

With this weather opportunity we pulled away from the dock at 7:00am

and headed south down the Straits of Georgia where it was very busy with commercial boat traffic!  It’s been awhile since we’ve traveled with some many other commercial boats!

Heading to Nanaimo through Departure Bay we set the hook at 17:00 in North Castle Marine Park which is located across the harbor from downtown Nanaimo.

We anchored across from our friend Jon from M/V Penelope Isle.  Jon runs a Ship to Shore Tree Service business with his boat.  We know him from the WWBA and hope to catch him here in the harbor – if not we look forward to seeing him in Ganges on Salt Spring Island 09/20-09/22/2013 when the WWBA gets together for its Fall Rendezvous.

It was a good travel day – put on 74.8 miles!

Off into the Gulf Islands tomorrow to meet up with Ron & Lynn on S/V Contessa.  It will be great to see them and catch-up on all our summer journeys!
