Warm Springs Bay, Baranof Island 07.09.2013

In leaving our anchorage at Appleton Cove we headed down Peril Strait then south down Chatham Strait making sure that everything was put away securely.  We put our stabilizer poles out in anticipation of a 3-5’ water day.  And a water day we had!

The winds were 15 knots from the south, and even though we waited for the flood tide, it was still sloppy with wind in our face on the way down to Warm Springs Bay.

What a pretty bay with a beautiful 100’ waterfall at it’s head.

There are also natural hot springs an easy ½ mile walk from the public float.  Our first stop at hot springs in our trip!

When we arrived at the dock we found the docks full of fish boats waiting for the opening of their season, so we rafted off of a seiner called  Middleton.

Wow was this a nice boat!  Everything had it’s place & the captain and crew were all very nice.

Here are some of the fish boats busy preparing for their season.

While we were traveling today our old friend Alan on S/V Genesis heard us on the VHF radio & joined us in Warm Springs.  He has picked up two gentlemen crew along the way so he is no longer traveling alone.

Pace Setter & Sounder are here rafted at the dock with us so cocktails are on Pace Setter tonight.

Contessa had trouble finding room at the dock so they decided to anchor in a bay around the corner tonight & have a quiet night alone.

After cocktails Bruce & I headed up to the top of the dock were the locals have put in three tubs that are filled with hot spring water that they have diverted down to the tubs.  The first tub had cool water, the second tub lukewarm water (like bath water), and the third tub had hot water.  It felt good to relax in the hot springs tub!  This is the view from our tub.
