Enjoying Warm Springs Bay 07.10.2013

This afternoon was spent working on boat chores and then Bruce & I took the main trail up to the hot springs.

This trail is mostly boardwalk which is maintained by the locals, though it does have some muddy spots so we wore our boots.

There are three hot pools.  The first one was way too hot for me – around 120 degrees.  The second pool was much nicer at around 103-105.  There is a third pool, which Bruce went down to, which mixes with cold water from the roaring river which flows right next to the hot pools.  This third pool fits one person and is about three feet deep.  Oh, there is a fourth pool but it is filled with cold water directly from the river – so it’s really cold!  I did not climb down the rocks to either the third or fourth pools – thinking that if I climbed down, I would have to climb back up and the rocks were pretty rough & wet.

Once back at the docks we visited with the fishermen at the docks.  There we met Carl & Maryann from F/V Last Dance from Sitka.  We really enjoyed visiting with them & hope to see them out on the water.

Wendy & Dennis from M/V Sounder invited us over for cocktails/dinner on Sounder.  They recently purchased a partnership in their boat Sounder, and this is their first trip out in the boat.  It’s a really nice boat.

We all had a great time visiting.
