Appleton Cove, Rodman Bay 07.08.2013

Annie’s Pocket proved to be an excellent choice to spend the evening.

We made arrangements with Ron to turn on our VHF radio at 10:00am AK time to touch base, at around 10:20am I looked into the channel and there went Contessa zooming by in the current down the channel!

Ron thought he would surprise us by stopping by but went into Baby Bear Bay (which was directly across the channel from Deep Bay) by mistake.  Annie’s Pocket is the next bay north of Baby Bear Bay.  So Ron thought we had already begun our journey to Appleton Cove!  I did reach Ron on the VHF and we all had a good laugh!

Not 5 minutes later we see our friends from the WWBA Paul & Jane on Pace Setter zoom on by in the channel with their friends Dennis & Wendy on Sounder!  We called them on the VHF radio and found that they too were headed into Appleton Cove.

After motoring approx. 4 hours down Peril Strait we arrived in Appleton Cove which is located about 1 ½ miles inside Rodman Bay on the south shore.

In the bay we found S/V Callisto which we first ran into in Wrangell Harbor and then again in Sitka – what a beautiful catamaran!

We found Ron & Lynn at one end of the bay along with Pace Setter & Sounder.

The wind started to pick up in the late afternoon so we all moved further into the bay to be more protected from the weather.

Once we all anchored it was off to Contessa for cocktails and a visit!

Where the captain’s decided on the next day’s travel to Warm Springs Bay.

Bruce forgot his glasses so he had to borrow Ron's drug store readers! LOL!
