To get to Brundige Inlet you motor down a 3 mile long
channel on the north side of Dundas Island.
This is an excellent shelter from wind and outside swells and chop. When you’re anchored here in the inlet you
really can’t tell if there’s a blow or bad weather front outside.
We set in 36’ about 2/3rds of the way into the inlet.
It is very peaceful in this bay – the only drawback is the
presence of black flies. These flies are
terrible! Having read in the guide books about these flies, during our
traveling for the day I completed the installation of screening for our pilot
house door. We are using the screening
that you see on the commercials – the magnetic closures on the screen where you
walk through the screen and the magnets snap shut after you go through. We think this will work for the trip.
As we traveled today we tried the crock pot on our inverter for the first time. We made pulled pork sandwiches and all met onboard True Love for our dinner. It was nice getting to know Stan and hear about his travels.
We taxied over to True Love with Ron & Lynn on their
dinghy and on the way back to our boats after dinner we had trouble with the dinghy
motor so we had to row. I thought the
black flies were going to eat us alive!
It was unbelievable! I felt really bad for Ron and Lynn having to
continue on after dropping us off at Second Chance.
The guide books say that the locals tell us there are no
deer on the island because the black flies drain their blood!! I can believe it!
