Deep Bay, Chichagof Island Saturday, 07.06.2013

After 6 days it was time to say goodbye to Sitka.  After taking care of a few chores in the morning we pulled away @ 12:30pm AK time.

Unfortunately the only time we saw the sun while we were in Sitka was at 3:30am AK time on the 4th of July - but when we woke up we were back with overcast clouds!

We stopped at the eagles nest that we spotted in Olga Strait.  We had seen this nest on the way into Sitka but could not stop because of commercial boat traffic behind us.  We marked our charts and made this a waypoint stop when leaving Sitka.

We set the hook and observed the eagles and their nest for 20 minutes.  We never did see an eaglet but the parents were always at the nest.

This has been ones of the highlights of the trip for me so far!! (behind the glaciers of course!)

Next as we approached the narrows there was one small humpback whale feeding in Bradshaw Cove so we stopped the engine and took some photos.

Once we set the hook in Deep Bay, Bruce & Ron set the crab pots for the night.
